to 11mln tree seedlings transplanted

than 10.6 million tree seedlings have reportedly been
transplanted in six woredas of Northern-west zone of
Tigray State.
The
Agriculture and Rural Development Offices of Tahitay Qoraro,
Medebay Zana, Atsgede Tsembila, Laelay Adyabo, Tahtay Adiyabo
and Tselemti woredas told WIC recently that the seedlings were
transplanted to over 3,200 hectares of land in 106 kebeles to
replace the lost forest resource and prevent soil erosion.
Members
of the defense forces and over 20,000 citizens have participated
in the week long campaign and orientations given to the public
on the dangers posed by deforestation, the importance of
transplantation and preserving forests.
Over
five million tree seedlings had been transplanted in the zone
last year and 60 percent of them have survived, it was learnt.
