Hawassa, September 22 (WIC) –
Two youth associations expressed delight that the 7th
organizational congress of the Ethiopian Peoples Democratic
Front (EPRDF) has given serious attention to the issues of the
youth.
The South Ethiopian Peoples
Democratic Movement (SEPDM) Youth League and the Coalition of
the Ethiopian Youth Association expressed their satisfaction
regarding the resolutions of EPRDF 7th organizational congress
held recently in Hawassa town.
The conference has indicated
directions for the youth to play an active role in as well as
benefit from development, democratization and good governance
endeavors, SEPDM Youth League President Tesfaye Yigezu said.
The conference has given utmost
consideration to issues of the youth and passed resolutions to
implement the programs and packages at all levels with a view
to address the complex socio-economic problems of this section
of the society. This shows the commitment of EPRDF to enhance
all rounded participation of the youth, he said.
The resolutions passed to tackle
unemployment, enhance youth-centered development programs both
in urban and rural areas and strengthen micro and small scale
enterprises shows that it has lived up to the expectations of
the youth, he added.
President of the Ethiopian Youth
Association Coalition, Habtom Gebrelibanos on his part said
the fact that the issues of the youth were discussed at length
at the 7th organizational conference shows that EPRDF has
given special attention to the youth.
The conference has passed
resolutions that enable the youth to play a leading role in
the development and democratization of their country, he
indicated, adding that the Front and the government should
also follow up the implementation of the resolutions.
The youth, on their part, should do
their levels best in implementing the directions EPRDF's 7th
organizational conference has put forward, leaders of the two
