- The Ethiopian Peoples' Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF)
says it will further strengthen activities to realize
Ethiopian renaissance. The 7th EPRDF Organizational Congress
opened on Monday in the city of Hawassa, capital of the South
Ethiopia Peoples' State.
Opening the conference, executive
member of the party, Shiferaw Shegute said the front would
intensify ongoing development, good governance, and
democratization activities.
Shiferaw said the front, as the
ruling party, has been scaling up multifarious activities
geared towards ensuring the benefits of the people.
The conference is expected to
deliberate on the front's performance report and also a report
to be presented to it by the audit commission related to the
past two years and set out plans for the next two years to
maintain accelerated growth.
Political organizations from China,
India, Sudan, Uganda, Yemen as well as the Eritrean Democratic
Kidan delivered congratulatory messages at the opening of the
conference.
Partner organizations of Harari,
Benishangul-Gumuz, Afar, and Somali States also voiced their
renewed commitments of collaboration with the front.
EPRDF's general assembly came as a
wrap up of the separate conferences the four member parties
namely TPLF, ANDM, OPDO and SEPDM had held earlier in
