A/A, September 1, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Ethiopian Peoples’
Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) will hold its 7th
Organizational Congress in September in the lakeside city of
Hawassa, capital of the South Ethiopia Peoples’ State, Bereket
Semeon, the head of EPRDF secretariat announced.
The meeting will elect chairperson and deputy chairperson for
a two-year office leading the Front. In a press statement he
gave on Monday, Bereket, who is also EPRDF executive committee
member, said the front’s general assembly will meet for five
days as of September 16.
The Congress takes up the lead theme: Let’s Build Ethiopia’s
Renaissance on Firm Bulwark by Broadening Our Successful
Practices, Bereket said.
The meeting will also appraise a report to be presented to it
by EPRDF Inspection Commission. Prior to the general assembly,
the front’s member organizations will hold separate
conferences in the nine days beginning September 4, he said.
Then, the front’s general assembly will be an occasion where
decisions will be passed concerning the general development
directions the country will be pursuing in the coming two
years, he indicated.
As part of its priority agenda items, the Congress will
deliberate on and pass decisions on how best to shore up
successes so far registered in the areas of development and
good governance by expanding related works down to grassroots
administrations throughout the country, he said.
Decisions will also be passed on ways of ensuring enhancement
of the country’s infrastructure development, which include
technological transfer, he added. (END) |
