(WIC) - The national policy and strategy designed by ANDM/EPRDF
centering on the youth has reportedly been registering
encouraging results in the socio-economic development of the
youth.
Speaking at a
forerunner meeting to the founding of ANDM/EPRDF youth leagues
today ANDM Central Committee Member and Office Head, Gedu
Andargachew, said several problems which prevailed among the
youth have been resolved as the national policy and strategy
designed by ANDM/EPRDF are youth centered.
EPRDF is executing
extensive capacity building works that ensure the benefits of
the youth by enhancing their all-round competence, he said,
adding that many youth have as a result been discharging their
responsibilities as leaders in the development sector.
Besides, job
opportunities have been created to many unemployed youth as
they were provided with loan, capacity building and related
supports with a view to minimizing unemployment, he noted.
Accordingly,
several youth have carried out encouraging development and
good governance activities in the political and economic
sectors under the leadership of ANDM/EPRDF, the head said,
adding that ANDM/EPRDF is again providing support for the
establishment of youth league from state to kebele levels so
that they could integrate isolated political struggles.
Bahirdar town
organizational affairs head Tesfaye Berhane on his part said
the establishment of youth leagues at all levels would create
capacity to youth and enable them to enjoy their rights
enshrined in the constitution.
Youth leagues would
be established in the state early May, it was learnt.
Present in the discussion were
over 1,200 youth of Bahirdar town and invited guests. |
