Chinese Communist Party vows to strengthen relations with EPRDF

A high-level delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has recently paid a four-day visit to Ethiopia.

During the visit, delegation head and Vice Minister of the Organizational Department of the CPC Central Committee, Wang Dongming, met prominent party officials, including Chairperson of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), Meles Zenawi.

Meles on the occasion admired the CPC for successfully leading the most populous country in the world towards development and noted that EPRDF has a lot to learn from the Communist Party of China.

Dongming on his part expressed his satisfaction with the encouraging results being registered in Ethiopia under the leadership of EPRDF and pledged the readiness of his party and the Chinese government to assist the development endeavors of the Ethiopian People.

The six-person delegation also visited the Headquarters of EPRDF and conferred with senior officials of the Secretariat.

Secretariat Head Bereket Simon lauded the strengthening relations of the two parties and stressed the importance of sharing experiences in order to consolidate their leading roles in the respective countries.

The two sides discussed issues regarding party organizational works, party building, enhancing membership and relationship between party and public.

The Chinese delegation similarly visited the Headquarters of the Oromo People's Democratic Organization (OPDO).

OPDO Chairperson Abadula Gemeda warmly welcomed the delegation and briefed it on the working relationship of his party and EPRDF. Being a member organization of EPRDF, OPDO is responsible for implementing the program of the front at regional level, it was noted. Abadula told the Chinese delegation that he would do his level best to create favorable condition for the investment of Chinese companies in Oromia Region.

The delegation which stayed in the country from 19 July to 22 also visited the National Museum and development sites in the capital. (END)
