EPRDF says candidates should have sufficient knowledge on ongoing democratic, good governance activities

Addis Ababa, March 18, 2008 (WIC) - Candidates of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) should have sufficient knowledge of the ongoing democratic and good governance activities in the country, the front underscored.

Speaking at the launching of a training organized for EPRDF candidates in Lideta Sub-city today, Zone Four EPRDF Committee Member Tsega Temam said the training would enable the candidates to efficiently carry out the development policies and strategy of the government at all levels.

Besides, the training would create capacity for candidates to properly address questions raised by the public and consolidate the building of democracy.

Zone Two EPRDF Committee Member in Gulele Sub–city, Yishak Girmay, on his part said the training would help candidates make aware the public about the development works carried out by EPRDF and the development works to be executed by the front during canvassing.

The training would contribute towards building a democratic order and enables candidates to execute their works smoothly if they win in the elections, he added.

Speaking at the training organized for candidates contesting in Arada Sub-City, Zone Two EPRDF Office Head Abate Sitotaw said the training would help candidates create awareness about the ongoing democratic and good governance works in the country and implement the remaining activities when they start work.

The training would also help realize the ongoing development policy, the head added.

Over 700 candidates are attending the four-day training. (END)
