Foreign delegates commend dev’t, democratization under leadership of EPRDF

Hawassa, September 16 (WIC) Economic development and democratization registered since the Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) took charge of the administration of the country could be exemplary, delegations of foreign political parties who took part in the 7th Organizational Conference of EPRDF underscored.

Among the foreign political party delegations who commended the achievements registered under the leadership of EPRDF include Chinese Communist Party, Sudan National Congress, Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement, Yemen General Congress Party, Indian National Congress, Uganda National Change Movement and Eritrean Democratic Kidan.

Chinese Communist Party delegate in his congratulatory message said that the results registered in development, peace, and socio-economic sectors since the downfall of the Derge regime are laudable.

EPRDF and Chinese Communist Party follow a similar strategy in their attempts to extricate their peoples from poverty and that is through the realization of rapid growth, the delegate said, adding that, their presence in the conference testifies that the cooperation and friendship between the parties and peoples of the two countries has been gathering momentum.

 Sudanese National Congress delegate on his part said that the people of Sudan and Ethiopia have similar cultures, adding that the amicable relationships EPRDF forged among neighboring countries and its contribution for the reign of peace and stability in the Horn could be exemplary for other African countries.

Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement delegate on his part said that a lot could be gained from the results registered under the leadership of EPRDF by giving priority to rural development and democracy so as to alleviate poverty.

Uganda National Change Movement and Yemen General Congress delegates also expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome they got since their arrival here to take part in the conference.

Indian National Congress delegate on his part said that their party and EPRDF share great similarities in that the two parties provide matured directions, stand for farmers and the poor as well as working to enable people with various languages, religions and cultures live in harmony through democracy.

Some 15 Ethiopian ministers visited India and five Indian ministers have come to visit Ethiopia in the past two years alone, the delegate said, adding that the Congress would exert utmost efforts to achieve the ongoing anti-poverty and anti-terrorism struggle through strengthening the bilateral relations of the two countries.

Eritrean Democratic Kidan delegate on his part said that the present huge economic growth achievement gap between Ethiopia and Eritrea shows the appropriateness of the democratic and peace strategy of EPRDF in the struggle against poverty and backwardness.

Eritreans are now under the tyrant regime, the delegate said, adding that 13 opposition parties have jointly been undertaking activities since last May to free Eritrean people from misery and exodus.

The Ethiopian and Eritrean peoples have jointly sacrificed their lives to get rid of the Derge regime, the delegate recalled, adding that Eritrean Democratic Kidan would exert efforts to restore the people to people relations of the two countries that was ruined due to the aggressive policy and terrorist acts of the Shaebian government.

The conference which was commenced with congratulatory messages of local and partner organizations as well as invited political organizations from aboard has been deliberating on performance reports of the Front, it was learnt. (END)
