Hawassa, September 16 (WIC) – Political parties of five
regions announced they support the comprehensive activities of EPRDF and its affiliates owing to the federal and democratic
system that brought remarkable breakthroughs in the economic,
social and political arenas of the country.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen
cooperation with EPRDF at the ongoing 7th organizational
congress held in Hawassa town.
The Somali Peoples Democratic Party (SPDP) representative said
the federal system has created a conducive situation for
nations and nationalities to consolidate their unity based on
democracy and equality. EPRDF has improved its organizational
capacity over time and through appropriate policies and
strategies has registered unprecedented economic development
that benefited the majority of the society, SPDP
representative indicated.
With the leadership and experience of EPRDF, the Somali
Peoples Democratic Party has undertaken a broad array of
development activities that benefited the Somali people, the
representative said, adding that SPDP would strengthen
partnership with EPRDF in the future.
The Afar National Democratic Party (ANDP) representative
indicated the commitment of the Afari people to implement the
strategies and policies of EPRDF and its allies to eradicate
poverty and thereby improve the living standards of the
public. EPRDF is providing support steadily through
pastoralist development packages that benefited the region's
pastoralists, the representative said, adding that alongside
EPRDF, ANDP will focus on development and good governance
activities to extricate the people of the region from abject
poverty.
The Harrari National League (HNL) representative also
reaffirmed that the League collaborates with EPRDF in
implementing development strategies to pull the country out of
poverty. The Harrari National League cooperates with
neighboring and other regions in capacity building so as to
consolidate the unity of people and the Federal system,
according to the representative.
Representative of the Gambella Peoples Democratic Movement (GPDM)
indicated that the people of the region at all levels have
benefited from the democratic system, adding that GPDM works
hand-in-hand with EPRDF and other nations and nationalities to
combat poverty and backwardness.
Representative of the Benishangul-Gumuz Peoples Democratic
Unity Front (BGPDUF) said the sacrifices paid during the armed
struggle and the national as well as regional economic, social
and political breakthroughs achieved compel us to protect and
care for the democratic system that we are enjoying these
days.
The aforementioned parties reaffirmed their commitment to work
hand-in-hand with EPRDF to continue the economic growth
registered in the country over the past several years, it was
