Hawassa, September 16 (WIC) - Ethiopian
Peoples Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) Support Forum
(of Ethiopians living in the Diaspora) vowed its support to
the front in its efforts to build one economic and political
community in the country.
In a statement of support she read out on the occasion of the
7th organizational conference of EPRDF, secretary of the
forum, Shasho Habtu, said that the forum would continue its
support and partnership with EPRDF in its endeavor to create a
consolidated united community based on the equality of the
people and in accordance with the principles of revolutionary
democracy.
According to the secretary, EPRDF has been carrying out
commendable tasks to ensure nations and nationalities
administer themselves, preserve and develop their languages
and cultures with a view to improve their lives. The forum
would contribute its part for the success of short and
long-term tasks undertaken to extricate the people from
centuries old economic, social and political backwardness, she
added.
She also indicated that one of the factors that initiated the
forum to pledge its support for the fundamental objectives of
EPRDF is the fact that a situation in which religion and
government are separate has been created while the rights of
groups and individual to follow any religion are protected and
consequently managing to bring together all for a united
action against poverty.
She also said EPRDF deserves support for its contributions in
ensuring gender equality, effective and fair civil service
delivery as well as for safeguarding the security and
sovereignty of the country from those who believe in the use
of force rather than negotiation and tolerance.
The forum has also been engaged in the struggle against the
drafting of laws that conflict with EPRDF’s objectives in the
US, harmful campaigns and reports that paint negative pictures
about the country and the people as well as mobilizing
Ethiopians living in the Diaspora for development of the
country and raising money to deal with food shortages, it was
leant. (END) |
