Mekele, September 7, 2008 (ENA) -
TPLF and EPRDF Chairman Meles Zenawi said the effort launched
by TPLF in the last two years to concur poverty and ensure
good governance has enabled to bring about radical change both
in rural and urban areas.
In response to questions raised on
the report presented by the Central Committee of the TPLF to
its Seventh regular conference being held in Mekelle Town,
Prime Minister Meles said the efforts being made by the Front
has helped to bring tangible changes.
Good governance could not be
separated from bringing about sustainable development, he
said.
Most of the farming community who
clearly understand the importance of development have actively
been involved in various development activities that led to
bring concrete change.
He said this positive trend would
help achieve the Front's goal of ensuring good governance in
the coming two years.
Pointing out that good governance is
at good stage in rural area, Meles said this would be further
consolidated in the next two years.
He said the ongoing civil service
reform program would help bring improvement in good governance
in urban areas. The efforts being done to ensure good
governance and defeat poverty are encouraging, though they are
a little bit delayed.
Meles expressed the hope that the
goal of TPLF to attain good governance and bring about
development would be successful in the coming two years.
Regarding to officials of the rural
Kebele executives, Prime Minister Meles said rural kebeles are
organized anew to enable them ensure food security while
competent executives were assigned that can help attain this
goal
The members of the Committee
continued their deliberation on Sunday on the report presented
by the Central Committee. (END) |
