It has been 33 years since the Tigray people lead by the
Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) launched its struggle
on February 19, 1974 to break the yoke of oppression and build
a prosperous, democratic and peaceful nation based on equality
of people. The TPLF Central Committee on this occasion
felicitates the Tigray people, members, fighters, EPRDF member
organizations, partners and supporters.
Honorable Tigray people and TPLF members!
Seven years have passed since we launched our rehabilitation
activities so as to consolidate the peace, democratization and
development endeavors by clearing our path. As result, the
clear path, policies and strategies put into practice in which
members of TPLF and EPRDF, Tigray people and Ethiopian people
have long been struggled are bearing fruits. It has become
undeniable fact that the strategies, policies and plans put
into effect that stem from our clear path could bring about
peace, democracy and development.
Our country has registered impressive economic growth for the
past five years not witnessed during the past regimes or
history. It is also achieving positive results in
democratization and good governance endeavors and moving ahead
by drawing wide lessens to establish democracy on firm
ground. Our people also ushered to the new Ethiopian
millennium with bright future and new vision. Now we are
standing at a point in which we assure to make our system more
democratic and developmental as well as realize renaissance of
our country. These features make this year’s 33rd
armed struggle launching anniversary unique.
Even if we have traveled long distances in changing the
existing political and economic system into full developmental
and democratic system, the complicated road ahead have not yet
been finalized. We have not yet abolished our main
enemy-poverty. We have made it public in our rehabilitation
path that anti-democracy and anti-development acts and
attitudes are challenges until we fully build irreversible
development and capacity.
We haves not only been able to sort out complicated matters
and challenges but also ready to face them until we realize
our set objectives.
Honorable Tigray people and TPLF members!
The TPLF Central Committee call upon you to further
consolidate our struggle diligently and with endurance in
order to expedite poverty reduction, development,
democratization and good governance endeavors. The central
committee on this occasion commends the relentless efforts you
have been exerting so as to eradicate poverty and ensure
peace, democracy and good governance.
Honorable TPLF members!
The TPLF Central Committee is of firm conviction that the
leading role of its members is irreplaceable in order to
ensure development, democracy, good governance and peace. Not
only the Central Committee, but also the general public
witness the results you are achieving by playing a
spearheading role in the efforts to bring about revolutionary,
democratic and developmental system. Again we call upon you
by the name of February 19 so as to move forward with
dedication by upholding the victories attained so far, filling
gaps and defeating our enemies.
Honorable EPRDF member organizations!
We have removed the fascist Derg regime through collaborative
struggle with a view to build a nation based on equality of
its citizens as well as ensure peace, development and
democracy. It is now public that we are heading forward with
fast pace crushing our principal enemies-poverty and
backwardness and ensuring speedy and sustainable development.
There is no doubt that you would keep on playing your part in
the efforts to register fast economic growth as well as ensure
democracy and good governance by standing alongside of TPLF
and Tigray People.
TPLF again on this occasion assure you that it would continue
standing alongside you in the joint struggle to root out
poverty and ensure development and democracy as well as
renaissance of our country.
